When the bite is misaligned, the whole body suffers
CMD (Craniomandibular Dysfunction) is a “chameleon” among diseases. The cause of chronic complaints is often located where you would least expect it: in the jaw joint. Do you recognize yourself in any of these symptoms?
Jaw & Face: Clicking when chewing, restricted mouth opening, or jaw pain in the morning.
Head & Ears: Chronic headaches, migraines, or unexplained tinnitus/ear pressure.
Back & Neck: Permanent tension in the cervical spine or pain radiating into the shoulders.
Frustration: You are already wearing a splint but feel no lasting improvement?
Not all splints are created equal: Why our 4D diagnostics make the difference
A modern 3D scan of the teeth is standard in many practices today. It provides a precise spatial image – but for successful CMD therapy, this is often not enough. The reason: A static model only shows how your teeth meet at rest, but not how your jaw joint moves in reality and where exactly the contact points are.
The decisive difference: At Baumstark Zahnärzte, we go one crucial step further into the fourth dimension: dynamics.
3D Scan (The Standard): Captures the geometry of your teeth. Precise in appearance, but without information about the joint path.
4D Joint Measurement (Our Standard): We record the natural movement of your jaw over time. Our sensors measure in real-time how your joint glides while speaking, chewing, and swallowing.
COMPARISON OF METHODS
CLASSIC
(Less “Vision”)
Static impression (analog or digital): Many practices already capture the bite digitally today. While this ensures a precise impression of the teeth, it remains a purely static snapshot.
Mechanical jaw joint measurement: If the measurement of the jaw joint movement is only performed mechanically, measurement inaccuracies can occur. Adjustments are usually made through multiple rounds of grinding.
Consequence: Time-consuming adjustment steps and splints that do not take the natural dynamics of the jaw into account and often feel “foreign.” If small “interferences” remain, these can be triggers for CMD problems.
Measuring the bite in motion
(More measurement data – more “Vision”)
Functional analysis based on 4D data precision: This enables functional diagnostics where expertise and technology achieve a new level of CMD therapy, as the cause of the problem chain can be precisely localized.
The result: A precise adjustment of splints, custom-made based on your biologically optimal anatomy. A dimension of CMD therapy that goes beyond the limitations of conventional methods.
We measure where others can only guess. As one of the few practices in Germany, we use digital DMD jaw joint measurement to offer you CMD therapy in a league of its own – precise, efficient, and biologically optimal.
