Anesthesia Options

Low-pain treatments through gentle anesthesia methods

For some patients, dental appointments trigger discomfort, sometimes even panic. The appointment is postponed again and again. Bad experiences or painful treatments are often the reason for dental anxiety. This is unnecessary, as there are various anesthesia options available so that anxious patients can experience their dental visit in a relaxed manner.

No need to fear the dentist!

Whether a root canal treatment is due, an implantation is necessary, or multiple teeth need treatment – gentle, pain-free treatment is always possible, for example, through
local anesthesia, analgosedation, or general anesthesia.

Which of the three anesthesia options is right for you is best discussed directly with us. Sometimes local anesthesia is sufficient for a minor procedure. In other cases, general anesthesia might be the best choice.

GOOD TO KNOW

Dental anxiety is widespread – about two-thirds of the population report feeling uncomfortable or tense. Please feel free to discuss this with us. Together, we will find a path that is comfortable and safe for you.

Local Anesthesia – pain-free in specific areas

With local anesthesia (local anesthetic), pain sensation is selectively eliminated; for example, you will no longer feel the tooth being treated and its surrounding area. This local anesthesia is well-suited for removing cavities or for root canal treatments. A major advantage is that the entire organism is not affected. After some time, the body breaks down the local anesthetic, and the nerve reacts to stimuli again.

Advantages

Ideally suited for children and anxious patients

Does the thought of a dental visit cause you nausea, heart palpitations, and trembling? For anxious patients, analgosedation is precisely the right choice when cavities, tooth roots, and gum pockets need to be treated. This method is also a good solution for extensive treatments in children.
Narkose

General Anesthesia – simply sleep through the treatment

Do you have dental problems and wish you didn't have to experience anything during the treatment? With general anesthesia, we artificially put you into a gentle sleep. Medications suppress pain sensation.

NOTE

It sometimes happens that patients react negatively to certain ingredients in the analgosedative. If this is the case for you, you should discuss it with us before the treatment.

General anesthesia is the right choice for patients who

Care by experienced specialists

Before the treatment, we will provide comprehensive consultation and check whether general anesthesia is suitable for you.
The anesthesia itself is administered by a specially trained anesthesiologist. This specialist monitors your vital functions such as breathing, heart function, or circulation and cares for you during the procedure.

Do you have questions about anesthesia options?

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions on topics such as general anesthesia.

What is the difference between general anesthesia and analgosedation?

With analgosedation, you breathe independently and can respond to the dentist's instructions during the treatment. With general anesthesia, you are artificially ventilated, and the strain on the cardiovascular system is higher.

When is general anesthesia advisable?

We recommend general anesthesia if pain cannot be eliminated with local anesthesia. Furthermore, general anesthesia is advisable for anxious patients, patients with a strong gag reflex, and when patients are motorically unstable.

Is general anesthesia safe?

General anesthesia is a safe solution today. The anesthesiologist is specially trained, the equipment is computer-monitored, the anesthetic is well-tolerated and quickly eliminated. As with any general anesthesia, there is a residual risk, about which your dentist will inform you in the preliminary discussion.

Does health insurance cover the costs of general anesthesia?

The patient must bear the costs of general anesthesia.
